PRP for Aesthetics
The platelets and growth factors found in PRP have also shown to be exceptionally beneficial in rejuvenating our skin. When used for aesthetic purposes, PRP has proven to significantly enhance the appearance and health of our skin, by stimulating our body’s own collagen production, resulting in smoother, tighter skin tone and texture and a more radiant glow.
What can PRP Facials and Injection Therapy be used for?
Platelet Rich Plasma in aesthetics is used to regenerate the skin. PRP has also been used in operating rooms for several decades to help with wound healing. The most common conditions for PRP aesthetics therapy include:
- Fine wrinkles around the eyes
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Nasolabial folds
- Fine lines around the mouth
- Acne scars
- Volume loss
- Uneven skin textures
- Sun damage to skin
- Large pores
In our clinic we do this with both Microneedling with PRP and PRP injections.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. When performed with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) this dramatically enhances the treatment results. During the procedure, PRP is applied to the skin to stimulate the release of growth factors and cytokines. This activates collagen production at a higher rate to rejuvenate the skin.
PRP injections are often used in conjunction with microneedling procedures. While microneedling is used throughout the entire face, injections are typically given is specific areas of the face that require deeper penetration to increase volume within the skin.
Our West Palm Beach PRP microneedling and injections work differently than cosmetic filler injections. The microneedling and injections of the PRP work to stimulate cell turnover, increasing your own collagen and elastin, resulting in a natural, healthy skin appearance. By using the patient’s own blood there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.
What to expect during and following PRP Facial Injection Therapy?
Our practitioner will draw an amount of blood similar to what is required for a basic lab test. Your blood will be spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood.
Numbing cream may be applied to the face to help minimize the discomfort of the microneedling and injections. Our practitioner will target specific areas of the face with both the microneedling instrument as injections where needed. The procedure will usually take between 45 minutes to 1 hour. After the procedure is complete our nurse practitioner will provide you with post treatment instructions for maximum results and schedule a follow up consult within 3 weeks of the treatment. You may resume most of your daily activities.
Platelet Rich Plasma or “PRP” is the liquid portion of whole blood composed of platelets, proteins, and growth factors which play a key role in the body's natural healing and regeneration processes.
PRP Microneedling can be used to treat:
- fine lines and wrinkles
- acne scarring
- large pores
- sun damage
- uneven skin texture

What is the recovery time after the procedure?
Due to the nature of microtrauma that is necessary to stimulate collagen production in the skin, most patients will experience at least some level of visual skin irritation. You can expect some minor bruising, puffiness and redness of the skin, which all dramatically improves within the first day or two, and most patients will have fully healed after one week. The degree of irritation will vary from one patient to another and is dependent upon the level of microtrauma necessary to each skin condition.

This will vary from one patient to another. Some patients achieve their maximum results for up to 2 years after just one treatment, while other may need 2-3 treatments to achieve their maximum desired results.
